First Fall Soccer Game

Lexi had her first Fall soccer game with the Gray Dolphins.

She had quite the fan club.

  That baby is getting huge!

Blogging from the carpool line

Oh, these cheeks!

The carpool line may be my very least favorite thing about school.  You have to get there 30 minutes early if you want to be near the front of the line.  If you get there right on time, then you'll wait for 30 minutes to pick up your child.  So, we decided that we might as well go early.  That way if Jayvan wakes up and needs to eat, we are sitting still instead of moving inch my inch.  So, we pass the time with some camera phone pictures and some Angry Birds.

No more pictures, Mom!

Growing Boy

We had Jayvan's well check and he is growing so much.

He weighed 10lb, 13oz and was 20.8 inches. It seems that the combination of breastmilk and formula are helping him grow bigger everyday.

It's like when you buy a new car. . .

Since we've been home with our son, we seem to notice lots of other adopted children.  Our backyard neighbors adopted both of their daughters (and no, we didn't know that before).  Lexi's tablemate at school and his brother are adopted.  A woman at church adopted her daughter ten years ago.  Many people we have met out and about are adopted or have adopted.

So, I think it is a lot like when you buy a new car and then you see that same model of car all over the place.  The cars where there all along.  Our focus has just shifted and we now see all of the cars that are just like ours.  Or in this case, we see so many parents and children blessed with the miracle of adoption.

Jayvan's first smiles

No.  I didn't get a picture of them.  They were quick, but they were real!  He's been doing the sleepy smiles since he was born, but today he smiled while awake. We had joked that he was having sweet dreams. The first awake smiles where while I was just talking to him, and then he smiled when Daddy got home from work too.  I love these milestones.

This was the dream

Literally.  This was the dream I had a few years ago.  I was walking my daughter to kindergarten and I was pushing the stroller with a baby inside.  I knew the baby was my baby, but I knew he didn't come from my body.  My dreams literally came true today.

The First Day of Kindergarten

It was the big day: Lexi's first day of public kindergarten.  We had her pose for standard front door picture.  She looks so big and yet so small at the same time.

Before we left the house, she asked for just a little more snuggle time with her baby brother.

Can you spot her polka dots walking into the big school?

We walked with her to her classroom and she hung up her backpack.

Then we took a quick picture with her teacher before we went to our parent meeting.

Jayvan thought the meeting was a snoozefest.

Amazingly, I didn't cry when we dropped her off.  I did, however, cry when I read this poem that she brought home in her "Go Folder."

These Kindergarten teachers know how to make a mom cry.  Lexi also made a couple drawings on her first day.
