Girl Scout Hoe Down

Some of the girls from our troop attended our service unit's Hoe Down. The girls had a great time learning some square dancings, swapping SWAPs, and eating some yummy snacks.

This was the biggest friendship circle I've ever seen.

SWAPs

Something With A Pin.
Special Whatchamacallit Affectionately Pinned Somewhere.
Share With A Pal.

There are multiple explanations for the abbreviation, but ultimately it is a little crafty item that you attach a pin to and trade with other girl scouts at events. We made our first SWAPs for an upcoming Hoe Down. Lexi looked at ideas on Pinterest and really liked these button flower. I manned the hot glue gun and she arranged the buttons and felt. I think they turned out great.

Happy Birthday Nana!

Unfortunately, we couldn't afford to take Nana to the beach for her birthday, so we brought a little of the beach to her. People sent me different reasons they love her and I wrote them on the fish. We took Nana out to dinner later at Olive Garden. Happy Birthday!

Thinking Day

Our Brownie Troop participated in Thinking Day for the first time. The countries they focused on this year were Russia and the Black Sea neighbors. Our troop provided a craft that was perhaps a little too involved. I will dial it down next year. We made a Russian flag out of pony beads.

Thankfully, we had some wonderful volunteers to help us out.
The girls had a great time learning more about these countries.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Lexi's school party was on the 12th. Lexi wanted a castle valentine's box and I think we nailed it.

We made these "wheelie" awesome valentines for Jayvan's class. They combined their party with a pajama party. The kids were all adorable hunting for hearts around their room.

Welcoming Home a Hero

Aaron is my cousin's husband and he has been in Afghanistan for nine months. The big welcome home ceremony was in Warrensburg and we all went out to welcome him home. It was a wonderful event to witness, but more importantly Jessie got her husband back and Aiden and Liam got their Daddy back!

I also made this video for them to remember the last year of their lives.

Snow Days

We have had MORE than enough snow days this year, but I haven't taken many photos of it. We went sledding at our church and played around outside of our house. The kids love the snow.
