Making Mini Snow Globes

We participate in an ornament swap with a local parenting group each year.  This year we decided to make mini water-less snow globes for one of our ornaments.  Lexi was my lovely assistant.

I managed to get all of the labels and glue off of the babyfood jars by using hot water and elbow grease.  I'm sure goof-off would have been easier, but I was trying to avoid using chemicals.
We painted the lids using a sharpie paint pen.  It took a few coats.
Then we used hot glue to adhere the miniature snowmen and little pine trees.  I found these at Hobby Lobby.  The snowmen were ornaments for miniature trees, and I just cut the string off.  The little trees were in the dollhouse section.
I thought about trying to drill through the glass, but we decided against it and just hot glued the ribbon as you see here:

 Lexi made a sign.
I used these ecoflurries for the snow.  It is definitely not compatible with an water-filled snow globe.  It turns kind of slimy when water touches it.
Here are our finished products.  I think they turned out great.
